Urban Planning

Harlem CDC’s Planning department is a technical advisor to community stakeholders and investors as they work together to promote sustainable economic development and community revitalization in East Harlem, Central Harlem, West Harlem and Washington Heights. Our mission includes providing an urban planning framework to assist community stakeholders in the formulation of land use and economic development strategies for their communities.

The Planning Director’s role is to build consensus and coalitions, as appropriate, to provide the advocacy and momentum to advance the types of projects that are so essential to community development. The Planning Director also provides technical assistance in zoning, land use and urban design to community-based organizations and entrepreneurs.
