Schomburg Center |
The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, one
of four research libraries in the New York Public
Library system, documents the experiences of people of
African descent throughout the world.
The Schomburg's collection includes books, manuscripts,
art objects, audio and video tapes, motion pictures,
newspapers, periodicals, photographs, prints, recorded
music discs, and sheet music.

The Studio Museum in Harlem |
The Studio Museum in
Harlem is a contemporary
art museum that focuses
on the work of artists of African descent locally, nationally
and globally, as
well as work that has been inspired and influenced by
African-American culture.
It features a permanent collection, exhibitions,
Artists-in-Residence program, education and public programming,
archival and research facilities.

Julia de Burgos Cultural Center |
Taller Boricua has
substantially contributed to the cultural vitality of East
Harlem through a holistic approach that explores a variety of
artistic expressions and unique styles. Its workshop concept
offers artists the opportunity to share ideas and inspirations
with colleagues. It attracts and sustains the art community by
functioning as an essential nucleus.

Morris-Jumel Mansion |
Morris-Jumel Mansion is Manhattan's oldest house. It was
headquarters to General Washington in September and October of
1776. After Washington's departure, the Mansion played host to a
succession of British and Hessian military leaders, served
briefly as an inn for weary travelers, and finally returned to
its role as country house. It is a historic house and museum
open to the public.
